Principal’s Message
Welcome to St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School in Central Bankstown.
We hope you find our website informative and helpful as you explore a new chapter in your child’s education journey.
Our school is a highly multicultural and diverse community comprising many nationalities, the majority being Vietnamese. We encourage our community to be welcoming, collaborative, and friendly. We have a vibrant and enthusiastic staff, committed to their own learning and to providing high-quality educational programs for the children.
At St Brendan’s we value each individual and celebrate our differences, encouraging the children to be accepting and respectful to all. As a school founded by the Josephite Sisters, we continue to develop the charism of the Sisters of St Joseph, with a particular devotion to St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
We follow our school motto “All for God” as our faith is at the core of all we do. We are very proud of our school and of our new learning spaces and encourage you to contact the School Office if you have any questions.

Principal
St Brendan Catholic Primary School Central Bankstown is a systemic Catholic two-stream primary school with over 4o0 students enrolled within the South of the Archdiocese of Sydney. With our rich, diverse cultural clientele, we work with parents, children, and the parish to build our community and nurture the children’s faith.
Our school was founded in 1952 by the Sisters of St Joseph with 52 Kindergarten students.
Even then, the school had a high proportion of migrant families. Many families were refugees from Europe after World War II, from Lebanon in the 1970s, and from Vietnam in the 1980s. As a result, programs were introduced to cater to the resulting multicultural mix such as a New Arrivals program, English as a Second Language, and Vietnamese bilingual program, all of which developed and changed, and the English as a Second Language now known as English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
The school has had a number of building projects and the site continues to develop. We gained beautiful large learning spaces with lots of light and up-to-date technology through a building project which was completed at the end of 2019.

Our School Values
Inspired by our motto, “All for God“, as a community of students, staff, parents, and parish, we aspire to develop students with strong Catholic values and beliefs, a love of learning and links to, and membership of the wider community.
Our core values acknowledge the Josephite Tradition of active service to others, inclusion, and bringing hope to all, we have underpinned each of our core values with a phrase written by St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
The basis of all our work at St Brendan’s is as follows – “Never see a need without doing something about it”.
At St Brendan’s we value and promote Faith, Respect, Love, and Justice.
- Faith is what we believe, it is not based on evidence – “Believe the whisperings of God in your own heart.”(1868)
- Respect is acting in ways that show we care for people’s feelings, belongings, and environment – “See the beauty of God.” (1873)
- Love is the ability to give selflessly without expecting anything in return – “Love one another and let charity guide you in all your life.” (1909)
- Justice promotes equality and fairness for all as a sign of respect for the individual – “See the hand of God in everything that happens.” (1890)
